The countdown to the start of my race season is on! Emily and I arrived in Europe a few days ago and we are adjusting to the time change and getting reacquainted with central Europe before our first races get underway Saturday. The next 3 weeks will be full of some exciting racing in Slovenia and Switzerland. First stop is an OPA cup in Pokljuka, Slovenia December 7th & 8th followed by two weekends of World Cups in Davos, Switzerland December 14th & 15th and a Christmas weekend World Cup in Planica, Slovenia December 21st & 22nd.
A long day of travel on December 23rd will hopefully get us back to Whitehorse just before midnight, just in time for Christmas at home with our families. Fingers crossed for clear skies to keep the pre-Christmas travel on track.

The past few days have been spent skiing in Davos, Switzerland and I am happy to report the conditions are great, with lots of snow. The hills aren’t looking so white in Pokljuka but they will have a race course prepared with the snow they have made and stored from last season. I am really looking forward to putting a race bib this weekend since Saturday will already mark exactly two months since my first ski of the winter season.

Since October 7th I have had the opportunity to be on snow almost continuously, skiing in Whitehorse over Thanksgiving, then returning to Canmore to train on Frozen Thunder for a month. Just before traveling to Europe I spent a week at Sovereign Lake Nordic, skiing in their beautiful winter wonderland. Training has been going well and my energy and excitement to race is high.

If you want to follow along with our races the next few weeks all of the race information and results will be on the FIS website and on the FIS app or check my social media accounts for race updates and hopefully some pictures of European Christmas markets as well!
We already have our hotel room in Davos light with a string of Christmas lights and I got an early start on Christmas cheer with some card writing and present wrapping in Canmore before leaving! Wishing everyone lots of great skiing and warm moments as the holidays approach!

Happy trails, Dahria
